Javier Pecos - The Matter Of Time EP
The Matter Of Time Music Video
The Matter Of Time is a conceptual EP that takes listeners on an intimate journey through the depths of depression and into the light of recovery. Each track serves as a chapter in this powerful narrative, both raw and transformative.
The EP opens with "What Is The Feeling", a haunting yet beautiful track layered with rich harmonies on guitars and synths. It poses a poignant question: “What is the feeling when you’re not feeling anymore?”—setting the tone for the emotional exploration that follows.
Next comes "All Music Feels The Same", a song that expands on the sensation of numbness, where even the music that once brought you joy falls flat. The weight of hopelessness is palpable, capturing the stillness of a world that feels devoid of color.
The third track, "Please Don’t Let Me Fall Again", represents rock bottom—a desperate plea for mental stability. With its hidden groove in odd meters, the song cleverly mirrors the dissonance of feeling incomplete, as its raw, vulnerable lyrics pull you deeper into the void.
A turning point comes with a voice note from Javier Pecos: “Time puts us in weird situations, but it also takes us out of them.” A thunderous drum fill crashes in, leading seamlessly into the title track, "The Matter Of Time". This folk rock anthem closes the EP with a triumphant realization: “Time has showed me that life’s worth living now. No book, no prophecy, will ever tell you how. That’s just the matter of time.” It’s a moment of clarity, reminding us that pain, healing, beginnings, and endings are all governed by time.
Sonically, The Matter Of Time blends an alternative edge with a nostalgic warmth, thanks to live band instrumentation and classic time-based effects like vintage reverbs and delays. The result is a sound that feels both timeless and deeply personal—a perfect marriage of modern sensibilities and echoes from the past.
This EP is more than music; it’s a lifeline, a testament to resilience, and a reminder that no matter how dark the moment, everything begins and ends in time.
Javier Pecos - What Is The Feeling
Verse
Tryin’ to change my days from grey to green
Stuck on my own habits, my routine
Headphones on, the music’s up, like I’m on a movie screen
I think I’m somewhere in between
Chorus
Some times
I get lost
Can’t recall
Where I left my soul
Oh what is the feeling
When you’re not feeling
Anymore
Verse
Tell me what to dream when I’m alone
Teach me a different way to get along
Show me where it is I’m going wrong
Cause I think my way is getting old
Chorus
Some times
I get lost
Can’t recall
Where I left my soul
Oh what is the feeling
When you’re not feeling
Anymore
Oh what is the feeling
(Oh what is the feeling)
When you’re not feeling
(When you’re not feeling)
Anymore
Javier Pecos - All Music Feels The Same
Verse
Sometimes you try
To fly so high and reach for the moon
Often you know
Of the glow that grows on those who ain’t you
A mind is drained
No sounds to swim in
For these are the days
Chorus
When all music feels the same
The same
Verse
What did you say
When you woke up that day and went straight back to bed
Isn’t it true
That the blue cotton lizard wouldn’t speak to the wizard
And you fell off the bed for the dream that smelled funny
And you went back to mommy
But she wasn’t there
Oh these were the days
Chorus
When all music felt the same
Bridge
How can’t you see
That the dreams we had are still real today
How can you hear
When the summer breeze reminds you of days
That aren’t here today
And may disappear tomorrow
Verse
I’d like to play
Pretend that all that I see isn’t there
Get carried away
By the smell of trees while drinking a beer
My mind would be drained
For no thoughts to swim in
But these are the days
Chorus
When all music feels the same
Oh when all music feels the same
Oh when all music feels the same
Oh the same
When all music feels
Javier Pecos - Please Don't Let Me Fall Again
Intro
I just…
I just wanna understand
But I
But I can’t, no
I don’t know what to say
I don’t know where to start
Verse
These words I’m keeping in my mind
I’m trying so hard
Now time is gone, been trying to fly
But it’s never been so hard to stand
These thoughts the pain they amplify
I’ve never strained so much
And it feels like it’s been passing by
But minutes smell like hours now
Just let me know
Just let me know this time
Ooh
Chorus
(Please don’t let me fall again)
Just help me understand
(All I want is to forget)
The dreams of my design
(All I need is one more chance)
To prove myself I can
(To prove myself)
All is in my mind
Chorus
(Please don’t let me fall again)
Just help me understand
(All I want is to forget)
The dreams of my design
(All I need is one more chance)
To prove myself I can
(To prove myself)
(Please don’t let me fall again)
Just help me understand
(All I want is to forget)
The dreams of my design
(All I need is one more chance)
To prove myself I can
(To prove myself)
Please don’t let me fall again
To prove myself
Please don’t let me fall again
Javier Pecos - The Matter Of Time
Time puts us in weird situations
But it also takes us out of them
Verse
Time has caught me
Chasing the past
Wastin’ all my hours
Travellin’ somewhere
That wouldn’t last
Dreamin’ of dead flowers
Pre-Chorus
Oh, I can hear it
I can really feel it
Chorus
Time has showed me
That life’s worth livin’ now
No book no prophecy
Will ever tell you how
That’s just the matter of time
The matter of time
Verse
I know I’m a fool to look at the stars
And shape them with your name
Not much to see on broken mirrors
Pieces of glass pouring all over my head
Pre-Chorus
But I can’t help it
My mind really needs it
Chorus
Time has showed me
That life’s worth livin’ now
No book no prophecy
Will ever tell you how
Bridge
I hope one day I’ll find my way
I’ll try, and maybe I’ll fall again
But life ain’t about what could have been
Just keep on walking
And you’ll get far away
Far away
Verse
Time has caught me
Chasin’ the past
Dreamin’ of dead flowers
Chorus
Time has showed me
That life’s worth livin’ now
No book no prophecy
Will ever tell you how
Time has showed me
No book no prophecy
That’s just the matter of time
